YOU- a poem about God

This is a poem I wrote on one of my difficult nights back in 2019. I couldn’t be more troubled. My plans were collapsing one after another. I knew I needed to trust God. My head knew that God was in control. But my heart was so troubled, so afraid. That’s when I woke up and began to write. I poured my heart out to God and wrote a poem to convince myself of the faith I desperately needed to hold on to.

Today I am taking you back in time- 2019. My old self. The part of me that thought trusting God was scary. I had a plan- 100% carved out, 5 years ahead, and very lofty. A plan I definitely did not want to make any changes to.

Until God changed everything…

And when I say everything, I mean- EVERYTHING. Everything.

Everything is a funny word. Exaggerated, almost vague- you can never know much it holds. Until you are forced to rest in your creator’s palm and trust him with, well- everything.

If you’re in the middle of a situation that is uncertain, scary and it feels like you’re walking down a dark path, let this give you hope. Let this stir up your faith. Know that He is God and HE CAN do anything for you. Assure your heart of His wonderful plans today.

YOU

A poem about God

You are my poetries, you are my song.

You are my weak, my bold, my tired, and my strong.

You are the water to my ocean, the salt to my sea.

You are the reason I bend my knee.

You are my freedom, you yet have me captivated.

You hold me like I’m silver and gold plated.

“You are shades of life, like the summers and the blues.

You are my fellowship, the painter of my many hues.

You are where I deposit. You are where I draw.

Your plans aren’t yet crystal clear, but I somehow see no flaw.

You are what I call a vacation. You are my favorite location.

This world and I owe you a standing ovation.

You are strong and serene and salt and safe land.

When you are here, my flavors feel bland.

You are a reminder of my home up above.

You are the glory of the Creator I love.
