    On quiet trust

The Bible has a storefront of many characters who spent their lives simply, fulfilled their personal mission and led people to Christ quietly. Except maybe John the Baptist. Or dare I say John the screamer (see John 1:23) I’m not talking about being silent. Or tiptoeing around the house when your mom is sleeping. I’m talking about very little emotional pitter-patter, very little fearful panicking and very little questioning in the face of uncertainty, pain, change and utter suffering. So, let’s do some examples, yeah? Saint Joseph Not a word in the Bible ever credited to him. If I were him, I’d be mad. But really, it’s crazy to think…

    YOU- a poem about God

This is a poem I wrote on one of my difficult nights back in 2019. I couldn’t be more troubled. My plans were collapsing one after another. I knew I needed to trust God. My head knew that God was in control. But my heart was so troubled, so afraid. That’s when I woke up and began to write. I poured my heart out to God and wrote a poem to convince myself of the faith I desperately needed to hold on to. Today I am taking you back in time- 2019. My old self. The part of me that thought trusting God was scary. I had a plan- 100%…

9 Things we can learn from Mother Mary

I began my Marian reflections in June 2020, very recently. It was a simple, unguided and a very scattered place to start. After 2 books, lots of YouTube videos, questions, discussions, weekly novenas, silent whisper-prayers and answered silent whisper-prayers, this is what I have come to love about our Lady. Today, 9 Things we can all learn from Mary (and start doing right away) What are some things that make Mary, Mary? Why was she chosen amongst all other women? What was so special? What did God see in a “Jewish teen girl” that almost everyone else missed? And furthermore: How can I be a “Jewish teen girl” in a…

If you’re worried about your future, read this.

If you feel like you’re in the middle of an important decision in your life, or you don’t have any direction or clarity, or you’re just so afraid of your future, you don’t know what’s going to happen and everything has been weird and strange lately, here’s a reminder for you, sent all the way from Heaven. I walked into the Lent season with doubts, anxiety and many, many complaints. So, God gave me a reminder. This is a tiny Reminder, but it’s an important one because it’s so easy to forget as we go through life. And it’s not just a thing or two that keeps bothering us. There…

    A Christmas Reflection: St. Joseph

The joy of being a father is, in much sense, similar to the joy of being a mother. This tantalizing sensation that tells you of your responsibility of another human being, a whole new individual. It brings much joy and anticipation. This anticipation, I like to think, is similar to the kind we feel as we engage in the season of Advent. There is a deep sense of an anticipated arrival- grand and unexplainable.  Joseph, the father of Jesus- I usually wonder what character he possesses. Apart from the nativity of Jesus and a few occasions that followed, Joseph doesn’t make an appearance.  I wonder… Did he feel the same…

I wrote a poem about Christmas

I wrote this piece of art at 1:00 A.M. one night when something very random urged me to get out of bed and write. I didn’t know what I was writing, but 5 minutes in, these words were on my phone. I believe God uses our talents to impact this world with His message and His unconditional love. Just like He did with me, to communicate to this world the REAL MEANING of CHRISTMAS. A poem written by me: Christmas is…   Christmas is not about winter,Or a snowy, mountain shack.Christmas is about a loving God,Who gave His life to win us back. It is not about the pretty mistletoes.Neither…

How do I know if God wants me to wait on Him?

There are times when we stand on crossroads of choices, with the responsibility of making big decisions for life. We ask god for help and direction, sometimes, without an answer. And you ask, “How do I know if God wants me to wait on Him?” Still, no answer. So, we quit praying and take decisions on our own instead. And then, just when you’re about to press that final go button, God puts a sudden halt. Next thing you know, you’re stuck. The plans you’ve made aren’t going exactly how you’d like them to and somehow, something feels off. If that sounded like you, there is a possibility that God…

7 Christian YouTubers you should be watching

Last week, I came across a very unfamiliar term. GAMOPHIBIA – fear of marriage. I thought to myself: “Why would anyone be afraid of marriage?” “You get to wear a designer wedding dress, go to your dream destination for your honeymoon, have sex, play with the babies, read them bedtime tales and grow old with the high school sweetheart you married. What’s not to like?” I know. I know I’m being unrealistic. Marriage is difficult. Given the world we live in, it’s quite easy, I would say, to have a fear of marriage. Broken families, divorce, extramarital affairs, financial problems, family complications- everything is a mess. It’s sad, but it’s…

    Should/ Can I be a religious nun?

Spoiler alert: I’m being hinted towards religious life. I keep thinking, “Should I become a religious nun?” Reality check: It’s not confirmed. Grade 6: I really liked sitting on the front benches at Catechism class in school (unlike Math class). I’d raise my hand up at every question so I could answer as many. One such day at class, the teacher was speaking about Priests and Nuns. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. Matthew 19:29. “Nuns and Priests go to heaven.”…

This is proof of why you need God

You are reading proof of the fact that you need God in your life. Even though you might not admit it. We live in a world where everyone, deep within their hearts is on a search. It might not be as obvious, but believe me- it’s true. This is an intensely frantic search. We are all in need of someone to talk to, to make us feel special. Someone to really credit us for everything we do. Someone to back us up when we feel like quitting. And, we need someone to talk about our problems. And maybe even solve all our problems. Let’s just say we need a hero…
